Bio

Gazzoleen is a nu-metal band from the Hasselt region, known for their raw energy, grooving riffs, and emotionally charged live performances. The band was formed around the turn of the millennium and quickly gained a reputation in both the Belgian and international alternative scenes with a sound that combines heavy guitars, electronic elements, and melodic yet aggressive vocals.

In 2001, they released their debut album Tinybears through the independent label Seamview Records. The album received critical acclaim for its catchy songs and dynamic production, leading to extensive airplay on TMF, Jim TV, Studio Brussel, and Radio 21. In 2003, a special Night Edition of the album was released, showcasing a darker and more atmospheric side of the band.

Gazzoleen consists of Maarten Albrechts (vocals), Gert Dejonge (guitar), Günther Liket (drums), Serge Hauglustaine (bass), and Mathie Neven (electronics). The band made an impression with music videos for tracks such as “CIAD,” “Like 2 Die,” and “Filter,” and performed at renowned venues such as 013 (Tilburg), Melkweg (Amsterdam), Botanique (Brussels), and Biebob (Vosselaar). They supported acts like Disturbed at Hof Ter Loo (now Trix) and played festivals including Pukkelpop, Suikerrock, Rock Herk, Paaspop, and Jera On Air.

After the closure of Seamview Records in 2004, Gazzoleen said farewell in 2005 with a spectacular final concert at the Muziekodroom in Hasselt — a fitting conclusion to an intense musical chapter.

After years of separate musical projects — including Maarten with Bear and Günther with Vandal X — Gazzoleen is back with its original lineup! Ready to reignite the fire, they are currently working on new material and are eager to conquer the stage once again.
